Sheila Varadan's review of Dr Noam Peleg's recent monograph, ‘The Child’s Right to Development' will be published by the International Journal of Law, Policy and the Family.
Dr Peleg's monograph was published by Cambridge University Press in 2019.

Viva Success, Dr Naomi Lott

19th October 2020

Dr. Naomi Lott has been awarded her PhD in Socio-Legal Studies, with no corrections. Naomi's examiners were Professor Ton Liefaard and Professor Robert McCorquodale. 


Her thesis, 'The Right to Play', examines this under-researched right from conception to implementation.

Liverpool Child Friendly City: Research Showcase, Seamus Byrne

20th November 2020

Seamus Byrne shared his research at the ‘Shaping Liverpool as a Child Friendly City: Research Showcase Event’ which is part of the ongoing collaboration between Liverpool City Council and the University of Liverpool to make Liverpool a Child Friendly City. His presentation focused on his ongoing participatory research into the provision of services for children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

Parliament Engagement, Tracy Kirk

September 2020

Tracy was invited to provide written evidence to the Education and Skills Committee, Scottish Parliament on Children’s Rights, Education and Covid 19.

The submission informs an understanding of the legal obligations the Scottish Government and the SQA have and how these should have underpinned the development of the alternative grading process and the appeals process.

August 2020

Tracy was invited to contribute to the Sunday National. Her article 'Problems with SQA still need to be solved' highlights the plight of students not helped by the government u-turn over results. Much of the work in this area highlights the need to listen to marginalised and disadvantaged students who have been forgotten in much of the media discussions.

This series of stories on The Spinoff (a New Zealand news website) discussed the ongoing claim against Oranga Tamariki (New Zealand’s child protection agency) at the Waitangi Tribunal (a standing commission of inquiry which investigates alleged breaches of the Treaty of Waitangi, New Zealand’s founding document).
